The Rum Diaries

A collection of rum inspired history, stories, and legends.

Welcome Rum Enthusiasts

Rum has a long, rich history that dates back hundreds of years. The word rum was first recorded in 1654 in the Public Records of the Colony of Connecticut, where it is mentioned along with another of its names kill-devil. It is a liquor made by fermenting then distilling sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice. The distillate, a clear liquid, is usually aged in oak barrels. Most rums are produced in Caribbean and American countries, but also in other sugar-producing countries, such as the Philippines and India.

Together we shall explore the mystery and romance of this illicit elixir.
